Nutrition is an important thing to consider when you’re getting cancer treatment. Eating healthy foods before, during, and after treatment can help you feel better and stay stronger. But cancer and its treatment may cause patients to lose their appetite and energy, putting them at an increased risk for malnutrition. Our registered dietitians will work with you to at every point of your journey.
Re-hab for cancer patients (before their treatment starts) is called “pre-hab”. Cancer pre-hab prepares your body and mind for the challenges you’ll face while undergoing oncology treatments.
Benefits of cancer pre-hab:
• Increases your body’s ability to manage chemo and radiation with fewer negative side effects.
• Helps with “Chemo Brain.”
• Improves mental and physical strength.
• Reduces your risk of chemo-therapy neuropathy.
• Increases your range of motion after radiation.
• Prevents balance falls and risks due to fatigue.
• Assists with digestion and appetite.
• Multi-disciplinary approach: Nutritional Services, Occupational Therapy (OT), Physical Therapy (PT), Speech Therapy (ST) and Social Services
