Patient Satisfaction Survey
Patient satisfaction is an important measurement of quality care and the patient and family perception of their care. Alomere Health places high value on patient feedback and satisfaction. Alomere Health utilizes the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) patient satisfaction survey to measure patient satisfaction. The HCAHPS survey is a standardized nationwide survey developed by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). The goal of this survey is to have a standardized patient survey throughout hospitals which have publicly reportable results.
The HCAHPS survey consists of 27 questions. Five questions are demographic and the remaining 22 address the patient's perception and the frequency to which specific care was provided. Questions address eight key care areas:
How does this survey get accomplished?
- An independent survey company randomly mails surveys to adult patients who were hospitalized on the medical, surgical and OB units.
- The survey results are collected, recorded and submitted to CMS.

Quality of Care Measures
Alomere Health is committed to providing high quality care for all the healthcare needs of you and your family. The hospital is required to submit data to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) which reflect our performance on the following five areas: (a) heart attack, (b) heart failure, (c) pneumonia, (d) infection reporting, (e) surgical care, (f) stroke and (g) patient satisfaction (HCAHPS). This performance is called "quality of care" measures. The results of "quality of care" measures can be compared hospital to hospital. As a patient or family member this information is useful for you to learn about quality care and to become a more informed consumer to make the best healthcare decisions for you and your family.

Patient Safety and Quality
Alomere Health places top priority on providing quality care and ensuring safety for our patients. Alomere Health has placed many safety checks in place to promote safety and prevent errors. Our staff encourage patient and family involvement as research indicates that individuals who are informed and educated about their health care feel safer, have better results and are more satisfied.
To become involved in your healthcare we recommend the following suggestions:
- Speak up and ask questions if you do not understand or have concerns.
- Share health information with us so we can better meet your needs.
- Make sure your healthcare providers confirm your identity by asking your name and checking your wrist band before medications or procedures are done.
- Expect your healthcare providers to introduce themselves. Look for their name badge.
- Know the medications which you are taking, the reason, the times and any side effects.
- Tell your doctor and nurse about the medications that you take including vitamins, herbal supplements and other over the counter medications. Always remind your healthcare providers of any drug, food or latex allergies.
- Encourage hand washing for yourself, visitors and all healthcare providers during your stay.
