Spotlight: Kristofer Williams, Patient Access Supervisor.

As a quiet kid growing up just outside of Alexandria, Kris never imagined working in healthcare. He always visualized himself doing something with computers. Little did he know, he would be asked to lead a team at the age of twenty three.

Kris’ path to his position as Alomere’s Patient Access and Switchboard Supervisor, actually began at a local Holiday gas station while he was attending Alexandria Technical College for computer and voice networking. He excelled in customer service at Holiday but was eager to find an opportunity where he could grow.

Two years later, having just graduated from Alex Tech and eager to stretch his wings, Kris’ roommate (who was working at Alomere) enthusiastically recommended he consider joining the Alomere Health team. He took the advice, interviewed, and got the job as a Patient Access Representative.

Kris’ manager, Maria Gromatka, has enjoyed seeing Kris mature in his role. “About a year after Kris was hired, Alomere needed a Patient Access Coordinator for he ER,” recalls Maria. “Everyone could see Kris was a young leader, so the Interim Coordinator job was a test. What he does is not easy, yet he brings such a strong service heart and can-do spirit to the role. It’s great to see him succeed.”

Remembering that moment when he stepped into the leadership role at such a young age, he recalls,

It was both exciting, scary, and challenging. But I am so thankful they gave me a chance.

Kristofer Williams,

Now, six years later, Kris is thriving in his expanded role as the Supervisor of Patient Access and Switchboard. The reason for his success? He credits Zig Ziglar’s mantra: Your attitude determines your altitude. “The best part of my job is working with my team and interacting with patients. The crew at Alomere has become a small family. I get a lot of support from both the working team and my leadership team. Just the other day, I must have looked a little stressed, and a co-worker pulled me aside and asked if I wanted to talk. I love that we’re so connected here.”

When asked about his career goals, he says, “There are so many opportunities for me here. But for right now, I am really content where I’m at. I love this time in my life where I can work hard alongside my teammates, and afterwards, hangout with family and friends, and just relax—with a beer.”
