“Hearing loss is very personal.”

Spotlight: Kristen Dargay, Au.D., CCC-A

From a young age, Dr. Kristen Dargay knew she wanted to help people. As a high school student, she considered nursing or veterinary medicine. But it wasn’t until a college career exploration course that she discovered the perfect fit: audiology.

“I’ve always loved both science and people,” she says. “The ear is fascinating—tiny, but incredibly complex. It controls hearing and balance. Helping people hear better or regain steadiness can completely change their daily lives.”

After earning her Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) from the University of Norther Colorado, Dr. Dargay and her husband moved to Willmar, Minnesota. “We’ve never been drawn to city life,” she smiles. “Rural communities just feel more like home.”

For six years, she was the solo audiologist for a privately owned ENT clinic—serving everyone from toddlers to older adults. When her growing extended family began putting down roots in Alexandria, the pieces all fell into place. “My sister-in-law found a teaching job. My parent-in-laws shortly followed, and we knew we wanted to be close with them to raise our family here,” says Dr. Dargay, who relocated shortly after welcoming her second child.

Now, she’s back to seeing patients—this time as part of the Lakes E.N.T. & Hearing Clinic at Alomere Health.

“Audiology is so much more than hearing aids,” she explains. “Hearing loss affects people of all ages, and every patient is different. Some may need testing. Others may benefit from medical treatment or rehabilitation. Hearing aids are just one of many solutions—and they’re not one-size-fits-all.”

At Lakes E.N.T. & Hearing Clinic, Dr. Dargay joins a team of experts—including an ENT physician and a fellow audiologist—to offer coordinated, full-spectrum care. “I love working as part of a team. Together, we can give each patient thoughtful, personalized care that’s grounded in science—not sales.”
