Dr. Brielle Swanstrom joins Pediatrics.

Spotlight: Dr. Brielle Swanstrom, Pediatrician

Pediatricians are in high demand everywhere—which makes Alomere Health especially fortunate. Dr. Brielle Swanstrom could have built her practice in any corner of the country. Instead, she and her husband chose Alexandria… and she says they have no plans to leave.

Though born in Florida, Dr. Swanstrom considers herself a Minnesotan through and through. Her family moved north when she was young, and she grew up in Elk River and later Waconia. With a mother who began her career as a pediatric nurse and eventually became a nurse practitioner, medicine—and pediatrics in particular—were part of everyday life. It didn’t take long for Brielle to see her own future there as well.

To be sure, she immersed herself in the field early: shadowing pediatricians in high school, again in college, and soaking up every opportunity to understand what it truly meant to care for children and families. She completed her undergraduate degree at Bethel University, earned her medical degree from Loma Linda University in California, and then returned home to Minnesota for her residency at Mayo Clinic in Rochester.

After several fulfilling years practicing in Minnetonka, Brielle and her husband, Peter, welcomed their second child—and realized they were ready to put down long-term roots. They wanted a smaller community, a place with outdoor opportunities, good schools, and room to grow as a family. Alexandria fit perfectly.

I grew up in Waconia and my husband is from Duluth, so for our families, Alexandria is a nice in-between. We love being active outdoors, and now we live right next to a state park.

Alomere Health

At Alomere, Dr. Swanstrom looks forward to building a career that spans generations. “I want to stay here forever and care for the babies of the patients I care for now,” she says. While she enjoys supporting families through all the common concerns of childhood, she brings a special passion for preventive care, newborn care, and pediatric cardiology—especially congenital heart conditions, murmurs, and how heart health relates to sports participation and blood pressure.

Now settling into life in Alexandria, the Swanstrom family is embracing everything the region has to offer. And when she’s not out exploring local trails or enjoying the lake country, you’ll find Dr. Swanstrom at Alexandria Clinic—excited to meet families and begin this next chapter. “Everyone in the community and especially Alomere have been very nice and welcoming,” she says. “I can’t wait to get started!”
