Dr. Deb Dittberner, chief medical officer for Alomere Health, and Clinic president Dr. Paul Kietzmann tell MPR news how Alexandria Clinic implemented a plan to reduce the number of opioids it prescribes.
The clinic’s new approach included creating new policies and procedures, forming an opioid task force, and establishing care plans for patients who were receiving multiple opioid prescriptions per year. This new approach has resulted in fifty-percent fewer patients on opioids and reduced the number of opioids they prescribe by almost two-thirds.
