Spotlight: Dr. Emma Erickson & Kelley Mikkelson, CNP
In today’s healthcare world, it can be tough to get an appointment with your family doctor—especially as more providers retire and fewer new physicians enter the field. Patients often find it easier to use Express Care, where they’re treated by someone who doesn’t know their total health history.
Dr. Emma Erickson knows that challenge all too well. “So many times, my patients would tell me they tried to book with me, but the wait was too long—so they visited Express Care instead. I always felt bad, because I knew it wasn’t the same as seeing someone who knew them personally.”
That changed when Certified Nurse Practitioner Kelley Mikkelson joined her practice. The two quickly discovered they shared the same philosophy of care.
Together, they’ve built a seamless care partnership, supported by two Licensed Practical Nurses. This four-person team makes it easier for patients to get timely appointments—and because Dr. Erickson and Kelley both know each patient’s history, the care is more personal and consistent than a trip to Express Care or the Emergency Department.

“Having Kelley here means I can take a breath without feeling like I’m leaving my patients behind,” says Dr. Erickson. “It’s made such a difference—for me, and for the families we care for.”
This new approach is making an impact already. “I was pleasantly surprised to learn that I now have a care team working closely together to give me the best care possible. This is awesome!” says a recent patient.
