Born and raised on a small farm near Beatrice, Nebraska, Dr. Lauren Barnts earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She then completed medical school at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. She completed her intern year of OBGYN residency in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas prior to returning to the University of Nebraska Medical Center to finish her residency training. Dr. Barnts is a member of the Gold Humanism Honor Society and takes pride in providing inclusive, patient-centered care. She is Da Vinci robot certified and uses robot-assisted surgery for hysterectomies and other complex pelvic surgeries.

Before moving to Alexandria, Dr. Barnts and her husband were frequent Minnesota visitors annually vacationing with family in Bemidji. In her free time, she loves singing karaoke and traveling to new destinations but also spends her days relaxing with her two Cavelier King Charles Spaniel/Mini-Austrailian Shepherd mixes, watching reality tv shows, and learning to DJ.
