Nicole Brings a Small-town Feel to World-class Urology Care
Nicole Theiler, MSN, APRN, FNP-BC, has never been far from home—and that’s exactly how she likes it. The new addition to Alomere Health’s Urology team grew up in the small town of Clotho, MN, and after 14 years caring for rural patients across Central Minnesota, she’s bringing that same hometown approach to Alomere.
“I grew up in Clotho. I’m born and raised here and haven’t ventured very far,” Nicole said “Because I’ve always worked locally, Rural health is a big thing for me.” Joining Alomere felt like a natural next step—close to home, but still small enough to keep the personal connection she values most.
That connection is shared by others too, especially older patients, she says, many of whom feel overwhelmed navigating larger city hospitals.
A Career Built One Step at a Time
Nicole didn’t set out to become a nurse practitioner overnight. Over 14 years, she worked her way from bedside nursing into advanced practice—including years in home health, hospice, with med-surg and postpartum care in Staples, and a stint as an operating room nurse in Long Prairie.
“I’ve slowly worked myself up the ladder,” she said. “As I grew in my nursing career, I just kep on confirming this is what I want to do for life.”
She recently completed her Master of Science in Nursing and Family Nurse Practitioner certification, giving her the credentials to bring her seasoned philosophy of care into a new specialty.
Now bringing that philosophy to urology, Nicole sees plenty of room to make a difference in patients’ lives. “For young, middle-aged, or elderly patients—urology isn’t just about fixing a single problem. Urology issues have a huge impact on your quality of life. I really like that,” she said.
Home Life
“I have grown up on horses. I was riding horse before I could walk,” she said. She showed horses through 4-H growing up, and still rides today—her family’s yearly tradition is a week and a half of trail riding through the Badlands of Medora, ND.
When she’s not seeing patients, you’ll likely find her at her family’s beef cattle farm in Clotho, working alongside her father and brother. “If I’m not at the clinic, that’s where I’m going to be,” she said. Her two sons, ages seven and nine, are right there with her. “They ride with me on that farm, doing everything we can,” she said. With helping people at the clinic, working the cattle farm, running to year-round sports with the boys, and building derby cars for the local fair, it’s a full and rich life—one Nicole wouldn’t trade for anything.
