Virtual Urgent Care vs. E-Visits

This fall, Alomere is adding a new way to get care without leaving home: E-Visits. But with Virtual Urgent Care already up and running, it’s fair to ask: aren’t those the same thing?
Not quite. We sat down with Dr. Emma Erickson, Alomere’s Chief Medical Information Officer, to break down how the two options work and why having both matters for patients in our community.
Virtual Urgent Care is a video visit—you schedule a time, log in, and talk face-to-face with a provider, just like an Express Care appointment, minus the drive.
E-Visits work differently. Instead of a scheduled video call, you fill out a short questionnaire on MyChart (whenever it’s convenient for you) about what ails you. An Alomere provider reviews it and responds—no appointment, no waiting room, no video call required. One thing Dr. Erickson is especially focused on: making sure E-Visits route back to people who already know your health history, whenever possible.
E-Visits are set to be available October 6, 2026.
Whether it’s a video visit with Virtual Urgent Care or a quick questionnaire with E-Visits this fall, Alomere is building more ways for you to get the right care, from the right person, without disrupting your whole day. Have a question that can’t wait? Schedule a Virtual Urgent Care visit today at alomerehealth.com. And keep an eye on your MyChart account this fall for E-Visits to go live.
