A Special Announcement from Alomere Health Learn More

Matthew Peterson

MD

An Alexandria native, Dr. Peterson did his undergrad at Concordia College in Moorhead and completed his medical degree at the University of Minnesota in 2020. After his residency in Buffalo, New York, Dr. Peterson moved back to his home town and joined Alomere Health in 2025.

“I have a special interest in serving rural Minnesota. As someone who was raised in Alexandria, I have a special bond with this community and a desire to give back to it as this region has shaped the person and physician I have become.”

As a general urologist, Dr. Peterson enjoys interacting with patients throughout all walks of life. He takes a personal approach to treat the individual as a whole, not just the disease. Urologic problems can be life changing processes—giving patient’s a place where they can freely ask questions to understand their condition and feel comfortable about their treatment plan is extremely important. “Making sure that my patients and I are on the same page and making decisions about their health in a shared/mutual manner makes for better healthcare. I understand some diseases have a quicker fix, but I also know that some conditions last a lifetime—walking patients through their experience is both a privilege and a rewarding experience.”

Dr. Peterson’s wife is from Spicer, so they share a mutual love for small town Minnesota. “The two of us feel incredibly fortunate to be raising our family in the Alexandria area. We thoroughly enjoy the outdoors, no matter what season! Though our favorite is definitely getting out on the lakes. You’ll otherwise find us on the golf course or at various community events. We are excited to begin attending local high school sporting events, Go Cardinals!”
