City of Alexandria

Alexandria is one of the fastest growing micropolitan areas in Minnesota. At the time of the last census the population was 11,070, with even more residents populating outlying areas and lake communities that call the Alexandria area home.

Alexandria is the county seat of Douglas County, situated in Central Minnesota along the I-94 corridor, it is about half-way between Minneapolis, MN and Fargo, ND.

With a special blend of traditional values and progressive thinking, Alexandria is a great place for those who crave the pace of a small town but enjoy the recreational, artistic, cultural, and outstanding education opportunities of a larger community. Fast Company named the recently-remodeled Alexandria High School a "Googleplex" for their cutting edge design and forward-thinking views on education: And no matter where you are, you are never far from the serene splendor of one of our area lakes.
