Your specialized care team

A Certified Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurse (CWOCN) is certified through the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nursing Certification Board (WOCNCB®). CWOCNs provide significant expertise and specialize in wounds, ostomies, or incontinence, and provide acute and rehabilitative needs for individuals with select disorders of the gastrointestinal, genitourinary, and integumentary systems.

Non-healing/chronic wounds require specialized care because underlying conditions prevent wounds from healing. The longer a chronic wound goes untreated, the greater your risk of infection and/or other complications. Chronic wound care is a specialty of its own kind, CWOCNs have advanced training required to understand a chronic wound and determine the best evidence based practices to promote wound healing and improve quality of life.
